The Simplest But Most Decadent Pumpkin Pie I’ve Ever Made For Thanksgiving

Everyone’s Favorite Ingredient Is Swirled Into This Classic Pumpkin Pie

We all know the classic way to make pumpkin pie! A little pumpkin pie spice with the canned pumpkin, and you’re ready to go, right? In all honesty, that can get pretty boring. If you’re anything like me and my family, we’re all sick and tired of the regular pumpkin pie.

I wanted to think of a way to change up our Thanksgiving dessert without getting too crazy. I still love the taste of pumpkin, so I didn’t want to venture too far outside the box. My friend suggested I make one little change: adding a swirl of chocolate to the filling!

It doesn’t seem like much, but that extra addition of melted chocolate baked throughout the pie really improves the flavor. It just gives something else for the tongue to pick up on. The pumpkin filling is still that creamy, smooth texture, but the dark chocolate mixed into the bites adds a richness and deeper flavor.

I don’t know if you like whipped cream or Cool Whip with your pie. I personally like the taste and sweetness of Cool Whip – the light flavor is a great contrast with the dark chocolate, and it really brings the whole pie together!

Quick Tip: Don’t overheat the chocolate, or it will separate in the pie filling.
