Go Healthy with This Fruity Take on a Sugar Skull Treat

Creamy Yogurt and Fresh Fruit Team Up to Make this Spooky Treat

I’ve always loved the adorable faces of sugar skulls. Take something spooky and turn it into a sweet treat, and you instantly make me smile. But this year for Halloween, I’m doing my best to keep the sugar to a minimum. All that candy has enough, don’t you think? Add in the desserts at parties and this time of year becomes a dentist’s worst nightmare.

So this adorable little guy is made with fresh fruit, yogurt, and a barely sweetened sugar cookie that holds it all together like a mini pizza. I won’t tell you this is the easiest thing in the world to make. It does take some time and a lot of slicing for the prep – but you’ll be having so much fun making the skull faces that you’ll barely notice all the work. Get the kids involved and you’ll create new memories at the same time as crafting these new treats or throw a decorating party, so everyone gets in on the fun. This recipe comes from Growing Up Bilingual, huge thanks to them for such an adorable way to enjoy a Halloween treat. This is the perfect treat to take to school events or October birthdays as well!

Quick tip: Keep your fresh fruit looking bright and tasty by tossing the slices in lemon juice directly after slicing.
