Green And Gooey And Perfect For Halloween!

Are you looking for a good, simple cookie recipe for this Halloween’s festivities? Look no further, this is the one! These are really good cookies, and are actually more like a cake than the usual cookie. They can easily be changed up to be suitable for other holidays by just changing the food coloring and sugar candies used. These simple, soft cookies are always a hit with kids and adults, alike.

Not only are they tasty, but they are super simple to make, as well. Most of the complicated work of baking a cookie is taken care of by the use of a pre-packaged yellow cake mix. The most complicated part of making these cookies is waiting for them to chill, prior to baking. See the Quick Tip for further instructions about chilling the cookie dough.

One note of caution, however. Do NOT put the little candy eyeballs onto the cookies before baking, thinking that this will save you some time. The candy eyeballs will melt or dissolve in the heat of the oven, and your batch of cookies will be ruined. You can put the eyeballs on the cookies right after you have removed them from the baking pan to cool, while the cookies are still warm.

Quick Tip:  It is expected that the dough still will be a bit sticky after refrigeration, but just go ahead and roll them into balls, put them in the powdered sugar and bake. If your dough is still extremely sticky after being refrigerated for 30 minutes, stick it in the freezer for about 10 minutes, then proceed with the recipe.  If you have the time to make these ahead, they can chill for several hours or even overnight.  Then bake at 375 degrees F for 9-11 minutes.
