You’ll Want a Second Helping of These Brownies
I would do just about anything for chocolate – it’s my guilty pleasure. Every time we have our book club meeting once a month, there’s always someone who breaks the healthy rule and brings a decadent dessert. I always try to be good, but my sweet tooth ends up winning and I try a piece.
Last month, Jenny brought these brownies that had a yummy icing on top. I ate my usual one small piece to satisfy my chocolate craving. Come to find out, these are whole wheat brownies! While not all of the calories are removed, by using whole wheat flour instead of all purpose flour, it makes it just a little less bad (and a reason to eat a second one!).
If she hadn’t tol us they were whole wheat, I would have never know. The texture and taste are both there like a normal brownie! I got the recipe from her immediately and have made these treats twice already. My boys love them because they get their chocolate fix and they never know it’s not a boxed brownie.
I look them into work last week and added chopped nuts to the topping. It added a delicious texture and made a nice addition to the dessert.

Quick tip: Add some crushed nuts as a topping after icing the brownies. It makes for a little crunch!
