Don’t Go Into The Woods At Night….
Oh, be still my heart! Just look at this luscious confection Maria has created! How could I be expected to resist this scrumptious combination of chocolatey brownies, sweet cherries and creamy cheesecake? Well, don’t expect it, because I know I can’t do it! If there is any face-planting being done at my Halloween party this year, it will be mine – right into this amazing dessert!
As Maria says, “There is something about Black Forest desserts that just screams Halloween to me. It has a dark and mysterious way about it.” The addition of those scary little spider decorations is a nice touch, too, along with the maraschino cherry on top.
The hardest part of making this recipe might be finding appropriate containers to serve these individual trifles in. The recipe instructions call for pint-sized Mason jars, but those are not always available in local stores.
Be creative! Now that you know that it is a pint-sized container you are looking to find, check out the glassware aisles of a local department store or thrift shop. Look for containers that are decorative and that will let the many layers of this dessert be seen clearly, as that is part of the charming individual presentation.

Quick Tip: When you are picking out your canned cherries, make certain that you get a sweet variety. These will still be somewhat tart, but if you get regular tart cherries, the recipe will not taste the way it was intended to taste.
