Turns out it is incredibly easy to make your own hot chocolate mix at home! With just five ingredients and a food processor you’re on your way to having lip-smackingly good hot chocolate mix with ingredients from your very own kitchen—nothing weird or artificial here. Just pure chocolate goodness you’ll fall in love with.

The very first time we tried this my husband declared it his new favorite hot chocolate, and I have to say I agree. It’s rich, smooth and ulra chocolatey just like good hot cocoa should be. Once you try this recipe you’ll never buy hot chocolate mix again.

Ingredients

2 cups sugar

340g / 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate (chips or coarsely chopped)

170g / 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate (chips or coarsely chopped)

1 cup cocoa powder

2 tablespoons vanilla extract

Instructions

Combine ingredients in the bowl of a food processor fitted with the blade attachment. Pulse repeatedly until all of the chocolate is finely ground.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature. Mixture will keep for at least 6 months.

To make hot chocolate combine 1 cup very hot milk (microwave for 3-4 minutes) with 2 tablespoons mix.

Quick tip: You can make a large batch on the stovetop by heating up however many cups of milk you need until almost boiling and then dissolving in the required amount of mix before ladling into individual cups.
