This is the best ever chocolate banana bread recipe! I know that might sound like exaggerating but it really isn’t. This bread is outrageously chocolatey—we’re talking a double chocolate hit from both cocoa powder and a healthy dose of chocolate chips. It’s ridiculously moist (like stick to the roof of your mouth moist) and still lets the banana flavor shine through.
This is honestly my favorite thing to bake because it’s so easy and turns out perfectly every time I make it. A slice is the perfect way to start a lazy Sunday or the ultimate sweet treat after a long day at work. You’ve gotta give it a try!
Ingredients
½ cup cocoa powder
1 cup AP flour
1 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
¾ cup sugar
½ cup melted butter
1 egg plus one egg yolk
½ buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 ripe bananas
1 cup chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9×5 loaf pan well with non-stick spray.
Whisk together dry ingredients (cocoa through salt) and set aside.
In a separate bowl mix sugar, butter, egg and egg yolk, buttermilk and vanilla till smooth.
Pout wet ingredients onto dry and mix to combine. Fold in mashed bananas and chocolate chips.
Bake for around 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool before serving.

Quick tip: If you don’t have buttermilk on hand you can substitute with ¼ cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt.
