Quick, Easy and Casually-Elegant Dessert
Have you ever found out that you need to make a dessert at the last minute? Don’t you just hate when that happens? I do!
This type of scenario throws me into a panic! First I check the pantry and fridge to do a quick scan of potential dessert-making ingredients I might have on hand. Hopefully, I find at least a few likely items.
Then I do a quick search through my favorite dessert recipes. Is it possible any of them can be prepared, start-to-finish, in less than an hour with those ingredients? I really have my fingers crossed! There’s always the possibility that I will have to make a quick run to my local market, too.
Now I have to become a whirling dervish in the kitchen! Kids and critters banished to the nether regions, I get down to the serious business of chopping, slicing, dicing, heating, stirring, and baking. My last nerve has become frayed. I am ready to blast the person that signed me up for this, especially if it is someone who says they love me. Humph!
But I muddle through it and produce something that could, indeed, be called a dessert. It might not be pretty, but it will taste okay. I really hate that my reputation as a cook rides on this effort!

Quick Tip: You know those cookies that crumble and always fall to the bottom of the package? Save them! Put them in an airtight container in your freezer and you will always have some on hand to use in putting together this ultra-speedy dessert at the last minute.
