Nothing Beats Clipped Recipes From Old Cooking Magazines – This Is A Must-Try

Since Christmas is just around the corner, let me tell you about a family tradition we have at my house. Ever Christmas morning, for as long as I can remember, my mother would always serve us toasted panettone, mascarpone, and a glass of champagne.

It’s the exact type of light breakfast that feels special, but isn’t going to fill you up before Christmas lunch is made. Since panettone is stupidly expensive in specialty bakeries, it has also become tradition to make our own panettone. The bonus is that you can put in whatever you want, or in my case exclude the hideous walnut that people insist on putting in them (I’ve never been a fan).

So here is my recipe, originally torn from a magazine a million years ago that my mother had kept. I know it says to use a mixer, but you can make this by hand in a bowl like I did!

Even if you mess it up, it will still taste great and you can always just cut it into smaller pieces before you toast the slices, so no one will know. Give it a try this holiday season, and see what your family thinks of the tradition!

Quick Tip: Need an idea for what fruit to add? Try dried cranberries and candied orange peel.
