Honeycrisp Apples, Flaky Crust, and Big Flavor in One Skillet
With autumn almost upon us, my brain has turned to things like pumpkin, turkey, candy, and apples! I love apple pie any time of year, but there’s something about a deliciously caramelized apple pie served with ice cream that just says autumn to me. This pandowdy recipe from Half Baked Harvest hits all the right notes for something that is rich, cozy, and creamy. The addition of the cream at the end turns the crust into more of a custard, which is a new twist for me on apple pie. I’m not complaining! It’s delicious, and I don’t think I could share this pandowdy with the kids if I wanted to.
This recipe does take a little more effort than what I usually share, but trust me it is so worth it. And you only dirty up one pan, which is a big plus in my book. Other than the puff pastry, most of the ingredients are things that are often already in your pantry. Bo ahead and get the big pack of puff pastry when you shop. You can always freeze it for the next time you want to taste this amazing recipe. Thanks to Half Baked Harvest for sharing!

Quick tip: Be sure to pick out firm apples to avoid having a mushy mess on your hands.
