Everything You Could Want In a Cookie – Literally!

Yes, they sound a little odd. When you look at the ingredients, you may even cringe. But hey, where’s your sense of adventure? These cookies have a devoted following – could all of those folks be crazy?

When you get bored with the same old run-of-the-mill chocolate chip cookies, when your kids won’t eat oatmeal cookies with raisins in them, and if you think you’ll scream if you have to press a fork into even one more peanut butter cookie, give these a try. They really aren’t that far off the beaten path, with sweet chips and all of the usual cookie basics.

But then things get a little interesting when you start adding both salty and savory ingredients, Your taste buds will definitely sit up and take notice! These make a great party cookie, as you can open conversations by having guests try to figure out just exactly what they are tasting. Their cookie will disappear, bite-by-bite, as they puzzle over the specific ingredients….then they will reach for another one!

These have been called many unflattering names:  compost cookies, garbage cookies, dump cookies. But if you try them, you will find a place for them in your cookie collection. Your holiday cookie exchange will never be the same again!
