The Cake to Put All the Other Cakes to Shame!
Any food that has the word “turtle” associated with it is going to have some combination of nuts, chocolate and caramel. I have enjoyed the creamy custard, known as flan, in Mexican restaurants. So I was picturing custard with chocolate syrup and nuts on top. Boy, was I ever wrong about the nature of this particular dessert!
I couldn’t have been more incorrect in picturing it if I had tried! Instead, what you have is a beautiful chocolate cake, spiced with a little bit of cinnamon, a layer of flan and a crown of dulce de leche caramel. Just look at that beautiful picture! Imagine the looks on the faces of your family or guests when you bring this masterpiece to the table. Oohs and ahhs will be on everyone’s lips, most certainly!
It seems like a minor miracle that a baked item of such different textures could be put together. Maybe there is truly some baking magic that happens in your oven. But until you try this for yourself, you are never going to believe it can really happen. So go ahead, assemble all of your ingredients, follow the recipe exactly and show off this dessert at your next special-occasion dinner.
