One-Pot Wonder Uses A Secret Southern Cooking Technique

Ordinary Ingredients, Extraordinary Taste!

Are you a fan of spicy, savory foods? If you are, then you absolutely must try Amanda’s recipe for scrumptious, easy, one-pot Chicken and Dirty Rice. It isn’t that the ingredients themselves are anything unusual. In fact, you probably have most of them on-hand in your pantry, fridge or freezer right this very moment.

Make no mistake, this dish can range anywhere from relatively tame and merely savory to a knock-your-socks-off, steam-coming-out-of-your-ears, tears-streaming-down-your-face, scald-your-taste-buds-right-off-your-tongue level of heat. But the basic recipe is relatively tame. You can control every spice and pepper involved, tweaking a little bit here and a little bit there to totally customize the dish to your preferences – and heat tolerances. See the Quick Tips for further instructions on how to adapt the recipe to suit your own needs.

While the combination of the crispy chicken and the flavorful andouille sausage plays a counterpoint to the somewhat refreshingly cooler dirty rice, it is really the cooking technique itself that does the magical alchemy of transforming these potentially fiery ingredients into a tasty dish you will find yourself making again and again. This complex flavor profile will positively explode in your mouth. But maybe best of all, there is only one pan to clean up!

Quick Tip:  Are you afraid this will be too spicy for you, when it comes time to eat this tasty dish? No problem, here’s how you can take out the heat while keeping all of the great flavors:  First, try using a regular green bell pepper in place of the jalapeno. Reduce the amount of cayenne pepper and red pepper, or omit them entirely. Or you could use a regular smoked sausage in place of the andouille sausage.
