When Is A Hamburger Not A Hamburger?

One Bowl Of This Soup Won’t Be Enough!

How about a nice, big, steaming bowl of soup for lunch or dinner today? Soup is one of the most comforting of all comfort foods. One of the best things about soup is that there is an endless variety of soups out there – one to suit every person’s taste and budget. I am always looking for new and different soups to make, and when I saw this simple, home-style Hamburger Soup from Abeer and took a look at the ingredients, I knew that there was more than meets the eye to this easy-to-prepare meal.

This soup is packed with ground beef and all sorts of veggies. The tomatoes give it a nice, mellow base and the potatoes break down to give it a semi-thick consistency that elevates it from broth without involving any cream or other dairy. You can adjust the thickness by cooking it uncovered, allowing excess liquid to evaporate. But you can’t tell just by looking at it that this soup has an indescribably-delicious taste.

You see, this soup is a prime example of how the use of various spices can take a simple soup out of the realm of the mundane into the level of extraordinary taste. Ginger, red chili flakes and paprika give this soup an amazing flavor profile.
