A Spooky Cracker Graveyard

In college I had a friend who lived in a large old house that bordered a large graveyard. During the year she loved taking long walks through the graveyard and imagining the lives of the people who once lived. She would make up stories from the names and dates she found on the gravestones. I loved taking these walks with her during the day.

Evenings in October were another story.

The season alone brings an eerie feeling. Walks through the graveyard were abandoned and we took to her house to watch scary movies late into the night. Movie nights at her house were better then at the theater. It’s where I first watched Silence of the Lambs and where I was introduced to Pultergiest. We’d watch late into the early morning and then spend the rest of the night, waiting for the sun to rise, fighting off sleep and jumping at every creak in the old house.

I miss those late nights and scarry movies. We’d crash out on the couch the next day and sleep well past lunch. The rest of the year movie nights consisted of a mix of Jane Austin and foreign films.

Quick tip: Keep it simple and purchase a pre-roasted rotissere chicken.
