This sinfully sweet cinnamon swirl coffee cake is the perfect dessert to end your next family dinner or special breakfast for a lazy Sunday morning! The cake itself is deliciously moist and tender with the perfect amount sweetness and vanilla flavor. It would be an excellent cake to serve on its own with just a dusting of powdered sugar.
But then you add the cinnamon swirl and, well, it just gets taken to a whole new level of tasty! The buttery cinnamon sugar swirl seeps into the cake and adds the perfect spicy sweetness. Plus, it keep the center of the cake so rich and decadent—you won’t be able to resist a second piece!
Ingredients
Batter
3 cups flour
¼ tsp salt
1 cup sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1 ½ cups milk
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
½ cup butter melted
Cinnamon Swirl
1 cup butter very soft
1 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp flour
2 tbsp cinnamon
Chopped pecans or walnuts, for topping
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl mix all batter ingredient together except butter.
Slowly add in melted butter and mix well to combine.
Pour half the batter into a greased 9×13 pan.
Mix swirl toppings together. Drop spoonfuls of topping over batter in pan. Use a butter knife to swirl the cinnamon mixture throughout the cake.
Top with remaining batter and sprinkle on chopped nuts.
Bake for about 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into center comes out with one or two crumbs.
Allow to cool slightly before serving.
