Vampires Beware! You Can Taste the Garlic in This
I’m usually not a fan of mushrooms because they are just rubbery and don’t really have a taste. My husband and I were at my in-laws last week and the guys were busy outside checking out the new grill. My mother in law pulled out some sliced mushrooms and I thought, ”I hope were having more than that.”
She also pulled out the balsamic vinager and honey, which piqued my interest since I wouldn’t normally associate those with mushrooms. I was waiting for her to get some potatoes or more vegetables from the fridge but she didn’t. It’s not called steak and potatoes for nothing!
Just as the guys were bringing the sizzling steaks in off the grill, the mushrooms were almost done. At this point I was eager to try them because the kitchen smelled delicious. The tangy kick of the balsamic vinager paired with the sweet honey and garlic actually made mushrooms not only edible, but they were delicious even by themselves. Now slap a spoonful on top of a perfectly grilled steak and you’ll never even think about where the potatoes are. This recipe is why mother-in-laws know all and it’s now one of my favorite sides to make!
