This easy Biscuits and Gravy recipe features an outrageously tasty sausage and cream gravy you’ll want to eat on EVERYTHING. Tender and flavorful breakfast sausage is browned up before creating a gravy base that’s liberally seasoned with pepper and a few other delicious seasonings like garlic and pepper flakes. It cooks up rich and silky—the perfect pairing for tender and flaky biscuits.
I always go the shortcut route and use store bought biscuit dough because, trust me, with a homemade gravy this good no one will ever be able to tell they’re not homemade. This is my family’s favorite breakfast. Yours will love it, too!
Ingredients
1 pound ground breakfast sausage (pork is best)
½ cup flour
3-4 cups milk
½ to 1 tsp pepper (depends on how much you like pepper)
Pinch of salt
Pink of pepper flakes (optional)
Pink of garlic powder (optional)
Tube of refrigerated biscuits
Instructions
Cook sausage in a non-stick skillet until no longer pink and in small crumbles over medium high heat.
Add flour and seasonings. Then stir constantly and cook the flour for two to three minutes.
Stir in a cup of milk. Keep stirring and you’ll start to see it thicken up. Then continue adding milk a little at a time (and stirring constantly) until you reach your desired thick or thinness.
Taste to make sure seasoning is how you like it.
Serve over baked biscuits.
