A Simpler Way To Make Your Thanksgiving Turkey

Whether it was for a big Sunday dinner after church or the annual family Thanksgiving dinner, grandma always made the best Turkey. She spent hours prepping. Massaging herbs and oil under the skin and stuffing it full of bread crumbs all before the sun came up in order to satisfy our appetites. She was an amazing cook. Every Sunday I miss her.

I remember her checking the oven constantly, basting the turkey, swatting at dad’s hands telling him to be patient. The house smelled as delicious as the dish that was set in front of us. I wish I had her recipe, but to be honest I don’t have the patience. I’d rather be watching the parade on Thanksgiving morning with the rest of the family or playing one of the board games with them as the house magically filled with the aroma.

A girl can wish!

This 12-lb turkey cooks in under 2 hours. While it’s not magic, it comes close. Since my grandma is no longer with us I’ll be 100% honest. This one tastes even better!

It’s less time in the kitchen, more time with family, and we don’t sacrifice on taste. I make a side of grandma’s cranberry stuffing to serve with it.

Quick tip: Cut up the root vegetables the night before and let sit in a bowl of water in the fridge. Drain and pat dry before using.
