These Bacon Wrapped Meatballs are the perfect party appetizer sure to disappear in minutes! A tender and juicy homemade meatball is stuffed with cheese and wrapped in everyone’s favorite meaty snack—bacon—before being baked to meaty, cheesy, saucy perfection. Each bite is an explosion of flavor you won’ t be able to get enough of.
I serve these any time we have company over and everyone raves about them. If you want a crowd pleasing appetizer for your next get together this is it. Your family and friends will gobble them up in no time!
Ingredients (mix up order)
1lb ground beef (I used 85/15)
1lb ground pork sausage
2 Large eggs
1 1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
2 cloves minced garlic
1/2 tablespoon onion powder (can use 1/4 cup finely chopped onions)
1/4 cup shredded mexican cheese mix (optional)
2 bags thick or thin cut bacon
1 1/2 cup BBQ Sauce
Directions
Step 1
Place the first 6 ingredients into a bowl, mix well to combine.
Step 2
Roll into 24-28 meatballs. Make a hole into the center of each meatball, add some cheese and pinch the ball shut. Shape back into a ball. Feel free to omit the cheese if you don’t want it.
Step 3
Cut the bacon in half. Wrap each meatball with a half slice of bacon.
Step 4
Place meatballs on a greased or foil covered pan, bacon seam side down. Bake at 350F degrees for approximately 20 minutes in center rack.
Step 5
At 20 minutes, take pan out and drain out bacon fat. Brush on BBQ sauce and place back into the oven for 10 minutes and brush on more BBQ sauce. Drain out pan again if needed. Brush on more BBQ sauce and place back into the oven for 5 minutes. *If you’re not big on BBQ sauce, you can skip the third brushing of BBQ and serve BBQ sauce on the side*
Step 6
Drain any remaining bacon fat and serve.
