This Cake Could, Literally, Blow You Away!
Have you ever looked into your pantry and had your eyes glaze over when confronted with the seemingly useless array of cans, while you have just one question spinning through your mind: What can I fix for dessert? Been there, done that. It especially gets to me when there is a last-minute requirement created by uninvited guests or I am tapped to provide the dessert for an unplanned social gathering.
Mind you, I don’t really object to making the dessert at the drop of a hat on these occasions, but I hate the thought of having to make a special trip to the market to get ingredients that I don’t have on-hand for this emergency. “Forewarned is Forearmed” has always been a strong motto in my life.
Now, thanks to this cleverly-named and easily-made recipe from Martha and Jack, my worries are over in regard to this type of scenario. Their Texas Tornado Cake relies almost entirely on ingredients that can probably be found on the majority of pantry shelves in kitchens everywhere.
Most of the ingredients are canned, but when combined, they create a sweet, super-moist cake. This cake has a little bit of everything, as it is packed with fruit (yes, that sounds strange, but go with it!) and it has a topping of walnuts and coconut, similar to a German chocolate cake.

Quick Tip: If you keep these pantry staples on hand, you will only need about 15 minutes of prep work and 45 minutes in the oven to produce this crowd-pleasing cake for unexpected guests or to take to a last-minute event.
