Rich Cheese-Based Gravy – The Crowning Touch

Don’t you just love chicken? I think it is the most versatile of all of the meats. You can serve it plain and simple, which is what this recipe is all about:  simple roasted meat. Chicken also holds its own in more fanciful fare. Again, this is demonstrated in this recipe, as well.

Whoa there! How can a recipe be both simple and natural AND complex and fanciful, all at the same time? Talk about split personalities! First, roasting is perhaps the easiest and most simple way to cook meats. Toss the ingredients in a pan, crank up the heat and let it rip. Secondly, there is a delicate, cheese-based gravy that appears that it would take hours to make, but it doesn’t. The entire meal is out of its packaging, prepped, browned, in and out of the oven and on your table in 30 minutes! In fact, if you want to serve that gravy over rice, you will need to start the rice before you begin your dinner preparations.

So, the next time you are in a quandary, wondering what to fix for dinner, don’t panic. Just pull this recipe out of your collection and get to cooking. Dinner will be ready in no time flat!

Quick Tip:  Want to turn this into a one-pot meal? Nothing could be simpler to do! Just pick your favorite veggies, give them a good scrub and peeling, if necessary, and toss them in the pot first, so that the juices from the chicken that will be sitting on top of the veggies will drip down on them and make them moist and flavorful.
