A Down Home Favorite Straight from Grandma’s Kitchen

There are some recipes that defy all categories and expectations. Maybe you heard growing up that you couldn’t have cake for breakfast – or maybe as a kid, you asked for pancakes as dessert, and received an odd look. Some things just belong on your plate whenever you want them, and this Sweet Alabama Pecan Bread is no exception.

With less than 10 ingredients on the list, and only a few quick stirs to get the batter made, this recipe really appeals to me as a lazy baker. I know that if I feel like wowing overnight guests with an amazing breakfast treat, I don’t have to do much to impress. Yet this bread tastes like something from an upscale bakery in a town where they know the value of enjoying the simple things in life.

Every slice is sweet enough for dessert, but comforting and filling just like breakfast should be. I love that it takes almost no time at all to whip together, and the ingredients are easy to keep in the pantry for whenever you get a craving.

Big shout out to 12 Tomatoes for this recipe that has quickly become one of my go-tos whenever I’m hankering for something simple yet satisfying.

Quick Tip: Don’t have self-rising flour? For 1 ½ cups, combine 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour with 2 ¼ teaspoons baking powder and ¾ teaspoon salt.
