My family is part Ukrainian, and my great grandmother immigrated to the United States from Ukraine. I never had the pleasure of meeting her, but I was very close with her daughter, my grandma, Helena.
Growing up, as a little girl, my grandma Helena always kept me at her side in the kitchen as a baking partner. I remember making her Cheesy Stuffed Babka with her almost every Sunday. Yes, we made her babka recipe that often because it was devoured by the family by the end of the day!
Grandma Helena always woke up extra early on Sundays to make the dough, and then I would help stuff it and bake it in the oven. I remember this recipe by heart, and I love sharing the memories of my childhood. Don’t worry – you won’t have to wake up at 5 a.m. to make this dough!
