If someone would have told me just how easy it is to make my own Cheez-Its at home I would have tried it so much sooner! There are only five ingredients needed and one of them is water. You can make these without any special equipment, but a pastry blender works wonderfully if you have one. It takes all of 10 minutes to mix the dough together.
After a quick chill in the refrigerator you’re on your way to having homemade crackers to enjoy fresh from the oven. And it’s nearly impossible to stop at just a handful, so have some cracker loving buddies around to share them with!
Ingredients
8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup flour
about 1/4 cup cold water
Directions
Cream together the cheese, butter, and salt.
Add the flour until the mixture looks like little pebbles.
Add the water, a little at a time, until the dough begins to come together.
Form the dough into a disk shape and cover with plastic wrap. Place in the refrigerator for an hour.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Place flour on the counter. Roll the dough out to 1/8″ thick sheet and cut into squares. Poke the center with a fork or chopstick.
Bake for 12 minutes.

Quick tip: Add some extra flavor to your dough with your favorite spices—garlic powder is one of my favorites to add.
