This Will Seduce You Into Having Seconds

When it comes to good old, down-home, Southern comfort food, it is mighty hard to find anything better than chicken pot pie. Tender chunks of chicken and brightly-colored veggies, bathed in silky smooth white sauce, peeking out from under a flaky crust.

But that was before Tricia came along with this enticing new-and-improved version of this classic dish. Goodbye crust, hello fluffy herbed biscuits! If you liked the version with the flaky crust, you are going to love this new version with delicately herbed biscuits. Comfort food just became even more comforting!

Pot pies are quintessential Southern comfort food. What makes them so? First and foremost, you have white sauce. That’s nothing more than fancy talk for gravy, y’all. Every Southerner worth his or her salt has gravy running in their veins. The entire South runs on gravy, and it isn’t considered polite to prepare a meal that doesn’t include at least one form of gravy.

Then there’s the whole idea of having your meat and veggies all combined into one tasty dish. In the South, we don’t like to fool around getting little scoops of this and that from separate serving bowls and arranging these neatly on our plates.

Quick Tip:  Filling as this dish is, no Southern meal is complete without dessert. A nice fruit cobbler or crisp would finish this meal off perfectly.
