This crazy simple Two-Ingredient Chocolate ”Ice Cream” is the perfect alternative for someone who wants a chocolate treat but doesn’t want to feel guilty after eating it. All it takes is frozen bananas and cocoa powder to whip up this tasty frozen treat. The bananas when blended add a natural sweetness and the cocoa powder gives it just enough chocolate flavor to satisfy a craving.
I make this all the time for my family to enjoy and we all love it! It’s perfect for hot summer days or when you don’t feel like taking the time to make a more complicated dessert. Add in your favorite ice cream mix-ins or toppings and enjoy.
Ingredients
6 ripe, medium-sized bananas
4 tsp cocoa powder
Instructions
Start by slicing the bananas into rounds (about 1/2″ thick), placing them on a clean cookie sheet or in a small baking pan as you go. Place the sheet of bananas into the freezer for ONE hour. Longer freezing times will make blending much harder.
Drop the frozen banana rounds into a blender or (preferably) a food processor. You may want to work with a bit at a time, rather than dumping all of them in there at once.
While blending, you’ll need to push the bananas back down closer to the blade once they stop moving. Continue to blend and push until they become a grainy texture. Continue to blend and eventually they’ll become creamy like this.
Add the cocoa powder and mix it in well. You may want to blend everything together, so it’s incorporated well. You can serve it immediately as a soft-serve ice cream.
Or you can freeze it and it’ll become like hard scoop-able ice cream.
