All the Meatloaf Flavor Without the Guilt

You’ll Never Miss the Beef in This Family Favorite Meal

I can remember when I was a little girl and I would visit my grandmother in the country over the summer. She basically lived in the kitchen and was my main exposure to being cooking at that young age. She would always make all of her staples when I was there – chicken and dumplings, eggplant parmesan casserole and of course, her infamous meatoaf. I can still taste the tanginess and heartiness as I think back on those memories.

Like most of Grandma’s dishes, the calories were not really taken into account. Just like Paula Dean, she used a stick of butter in just about everything. I was shocked to find out that when I first tasted this turkey meatloaf recipe, that it was in fact turkey.

My sister made in one evening when our families got together. It had all of the meatloaf elements that you wanted – the meaty texture with the tangy sauce. However, with the leaner meat of the turkey, you didn’t have the same greasy heaviness like we had eating Grandma’s version. Honestly, it reminded me of my childhood with her without the guilt! It’s funny how some meals can just transport you back in time.

Quick tip: Keep the full meal healthy and pair this with garlic mashed cauliflour instead of potatoes.
