These Molten Lava Cakes are the over the top dessert perfect for any chocolate lover in your life. While they look unassuming on the outside, as soon as you cut into them a delicious river of chocolate flows out (hence the ”molten lava” name) and you see that it’s no ordinary chocolate dessert.
Instead, it’s a mouthwatering combination of rich chocolate cake and fudgy melted chocolate that will make your taste buds do a happy dance. And despite their impressive appearance they’re secretly easy, too. So you can have your chocolate fix without a ton of work. A win-win!
Ingredients
4 oz (113g) Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate,
4 oz (113g) Butter,
2 Eggs,
1/3 cup (75 g) Sugar,
1/4 cup (40g) All purpose Flour,
Butter – for greasing ramekins
Instructions
In a double boiler, melt chocolate.
In a medium mixing bowl, beat Eggs and Sugar until light and fluffy.
Once chocolate is melted, remove pan from heat and add in butter. Mix until the butter melts fully.
Add chocolate/butter mixture into the eggs, add all-purpose flour and mix until well incorporated.
Butter bottom and sides of 4 small ramekins and pour in mixture about 3/4 way full.
Place ramekins on a baking tray and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 C) for 10 – 12 minutes.
Serve hot with vanilla ice cream or with a dusting of powdered sugar.

Quick tip: You can make this same recipe in a muffin tin—makes 6 muffin-sized cakes. Lower the baking time to adjust for smaller cakes.
