This Is A Perfect Recipe For Warm Summer Nights With The Kids
My husband and I have clear cooking roles. I’m in charge of main dishes in the house and the “major” side dish as we call it. My husband, on the other hand, is in charge of the supporting side dishes and anything that goes on the grill. After a near miss almost took my eyebrows off in college I’ve made sure to keep a good distance between myself and any lit grill.
Living in the south this usually means my husband does the bulk of the cooking in the summer because it just gets too hot to want to turn the oven on. So we have our fair share of grilled chicken (my favorite is when it’s served with pineapple and barbecue sauce—you’ve gotta try that), burgers, hot dogs and steak.
However, one evening in particular I was craving pizza in the worst way. But with the temperatures outside soaring above 90 I knew that cranking up the oven to 400 degrees just wasn’t an option. So I spent the better part of the afternoon debating which local pizza joint to order delivery from. Then when my husband walked in the door and I told him my pizza plans he made a suggestion—why don’t we grill it?

Quick tip: If you have a pizza stone you can set that on your grill grates and bake the pizza on it.
