Don’t Wait Until The Holidays To Try This Recipe!
My husband and I don’t eat a lot of ham. There is usually way too much meat for just the two of us to handle, so we reserve it for an occasional meal with extended family.
I made a ham last week that, in its first round, fed eight adults. It also made a hearty pea soup, a ham salad, scalloped ham and cheddar potatoes, and a lovely glazed ham loaf. I wanted to share my recipe for my Glistening Glazed Ham because you can use the final product for basically any other ham recipe you’d want to make throughout the week!
My ham loaf I usually buy comes from a deli near the campus of Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh. Years ago, we dropped in to try their version of Pittsburgh’s infamous ham barbecue and were struck by the number of people who were picking up a ground meat mixture from the meat counter.
Never shy when it comes to food, I asked what it was. The deli mix was actually an unformed ham loaf that folks took home to bake and glaze. I obviously had to try this out for myself, and I was surprised at how easy it was to do by myself!

Quick Tip: You can use seasoned bread crumbs for even more flavor in the mix!
