Saturday Mornings Just Got A Whole Lot Tastier With This Delicious Recipe
After college I moved away from my home state for a job opportunity that I just couldn’t pass up. It was my dream job i, yet I was terribly homesick for months after I moved. All I could think about was my family and everything I was missing out on.
To help me cope I tried to find new activities to fill my time. I joined a gym and signed up for three classes in hopes that I’d both get in shape and make some friends. Two of the three only lasted a few weeks (apparently I’m not cut out for kick boxing or boot camp), but spin class stuck with me and led to meeting my now good friend, Jen.
One night we were talking about our families back home (hers was also out of state) and how hard it was to be away from them. She told me that one of her favorite ways to feel connected with her family was to make the foods that reminded her of them. Anytime she missed her mom she whipped up a batch of chocolate chip cookies just like her mom used to make.
Thinking of my own mother I thought how much she enjoyed a hot out of the oven cinnamon roll in the morning—and wondered if my baking skills were up to the challenge.

Quick tip: If you don’t have buttermilk make a subsitute by adding in 1 teaspon of lemon juice or vinegar to a 1/3 cup measure then fill the rest of the way with milk. Let stand 5 minutes to ”sour”.
