Easy, Kid-Friendly Lunch Favorite Gets an Italian Twist

  • grilled cheese pizza

As you’ll see, this is really more of a guideline to creating a pizza-flavored grilled cheese, rather than an actual recipe. But the nice thing about it is that you really don’t need more than the idea to get started. Once you see how easy this is, you’ll be turning grilled cheese into all sorts of things! This was a fantastically creative idea by Budget Savvy Diva, and I have eaten more of these than I should say since learning about them. Don’t worry about the sauce making the bread soggy – the grilling process takes care of it completely. This is a great way to have homemade pizza if you don’t have any dough as well!

    Ingredients

Slices of Bread, 2 per sandwich

Slices of Mozzarella Cheese, 2 per sandwich

Pepperoni, as much as you prefer

    Fresh Basil, cut very fine

Pizza Sauce, 2 tablespoons per sandwich

    Butter, enough to cover bread

    Instructions

Generously butter the outside of the slices of bread.

Place 1 Tablespoon of Pizza Sauce on each slice of bread.

Place Cheese, Pepperoni, and Basil on each slice.

Make a Sandwich by putting the two slices together.

Place sandwich on a skillet over medium heat, butter side facing out.

Cook till cheese has melted, flipping sandwich when one side has browned.

Quick tip: You can customize this recipe to any kind of pizza toppings you like. Add some vegetables to make it healthier.
