We Can’t Stop Making This Simple and Delicious Dessert
A few years ago an older couple moved into the house next door to my family and I and we’ve become very close with them. We moved out of state for my husband’s job and are at least three hours away from either of our parents, so our neighbors—Jack and Nancy—fill that void a little for the both of us and for our three kids.
We have dinner together twice a month, once at our house and once at theirs, and they often make time to stop by every now and then just to catch up over some coffee. Nancy is an amazing cook and has taught me a thing or two that’s helped improve my culinary skills ten-fold. She makes everything from scratch (ah, to be retired and have the time!) and I also look forward to trying her latest kitchen creations.
However, our last dinner together was at our house, which meanr that it was my turn to get into the kitchen and whip them up something delicious. I was feeling prepared—a pot roast and veggies in the crock pot—until I realized just two hours before they arrived that I had nothing planned for dessert.
Then this recipe saved the day.

Quick tip: Make this a triple chocolate cake by topping with chocolate whipped cream by adding ¼ cup cocoa powder and ½ cup powdered sugar to the 2 cups whipping cream.
