This Bowl Of Super Foods Will Get You Through Your Cold!
As a vegetarian, it can be hard to find recipes that are healthy, filling, and free of animal products. My vegan friend, Connie, made me her Super Food Soup, and I couldn’t believe how many immune-boosting ingredients there were in it!
This has become my official recipe for fighting the flu season or any time I’m feeling a little under the weather. All the veggies in the soup have their obvious health benefits – there’s Vitamin C and B, which are really important for the blood system. The fresh ginger and turmeric are miracle spices for the immune and digestive system; ginger has been known to calm inflamed throats or upset stomachs, and turmeric awakens the digestive system and keeps the blood flowing.
All the ingredients, combined together, are the perfect combination for battling the common cold, and they could even make you feel happier too. I love that I now have a vegetarian recipe that not only tastes delicious, but it will pull me through those long afternoons.
However, if you’re not a vegetarian or a vegan, you could always add some cooked, diced chicken to the soup. This will heighten the flavor, add a lot of protein (which is also important for your energy levels), and it would be even more filling.
