There’s So Much Flavor In This Soup You’ll Beg For More
When I think of home I immediately think of chicken and dumpling soup. Evenings spent in front of crackling fires. Summers spent “helping” my dad mow the lawn by riding on his lap. And fall bonfires that weren’t complete until at least one or two marshmallows fell into the fire pit.
I grew up in a tiny Midwestern town and now that I live in a big city I sometimes get nostalgic for the simpler, slower way of life I grew up with. But my career took me out here. Which led to me meeting my husband and us having our three sweet little ones, so I can’t complain too much. Not to mention I’m still blown away after 10 years here how I can get food delivered at 5AM or walk to my favorite stores.
But on the days when I’m feeling a little homesick in between our few visits a year I turn to what makes me feel like I’m back in that small town: whipping up something cozy and comforting in the kitchen. Usually I gravitate towards baking but every now and then I get an itch to bust out one of my mom’s classic recipes.
This delicious and heart soup is her specialty and one of my family’s all-time favorites.

Quick Tip: To save on time use store bought broth. The flavor might not be quite as rich but it’ll still be tasty!
