We’ve Taken This Cookout Classic Up A Notch—You’re Welcome.
I don’t even have words for just how delicious this recipe is. It will literally be the star of any and every cookout you host this summer. But I didn’t always know just how great it could be to stuff things inside of burgers—until just a few short years ago I had never given it a thought.
That all changed at my parents’ annual Memorial Day party three years ago. My dad is our family’s resident grill master—or at least that’s what he calls himself—and he takes his time at the grill very seriously. He’s always trying to one up himself year after year, and this was the party that he finally reached his true potential.
I remember questioning him on why the burger patties were a little larger than what he normally made—before then we had always been a thin and crisp-edged diner style burger family. So seeing nearly inch thick patties waiting to be tossed on the grill wasn’t really getting that many enthusiastic glances.
But when everyone had their burgers assembled and took their first bites you could literally hear a pin drop as everyone became silent. And then began declaring those were the best burgers they ever had.

Quick tip: Swap out cheddar cheese for whatever your favorite is—my husband loves pepper jack!
