These are by far the best homemade brownies I’ve ever had! And that’s saying something as I love trying new brownies recipes and have tried my fair share. The brownies batter itself is almost as simple as a boxed mix and has both melted chocolate and cocoa powder for a double dose of chocolate goodness.
Then the best part comes—the surprise peanut butter filling in the middle! It’s so simple to throw together but just takes these brownies to a whole new level of amazing. Everyone who tries them will love them. Bake up a batch today!
Ingredients:
Brownies:
½ cup butter
1½ cups milk or semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1½ tsp. vanilla extract
¼ tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. cocoa powder
½ cup + 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
Filling:
¾ cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2-3 Tbsp. milk
Directions:
Make the brownies:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line a 9×9-inch pan with aluminum foil, leaving an overhang then spray the foil; set aside.
In a medium-sized microwaveable bowl, melt the butter and chocolate until smooth; set aside to cool while you make the filling.
Make the filling:
In a mixing bowl, beat the peanut butter, confectioners sugar, and vanilla extract until combined. Add enough milk so that it comes together but is still very thick. Set aside.
Continue making the brownies:
Mix the granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla, salt, and cocoa powder into the cooled chocolate mixture. Add the flour and mix in gently until no streaks are left.
Pour half the brownie mix into the prepared pan. Take chunks of the peanut butter filling and flatten in your hands, then place on a spot on the brownie mixture until it is completely covered and no filling remains. Pour the remaining brownie batter on top.
Bake for about 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, or with a few moist crumbs. Let cool completely, then remove the brownies with the aluminum foil and cut into bars.

Quick tip: To make sure your chocolate doesn’t burn in the microwave melt in 30 second increments and stir after each one until melted.
