It’s Easier Than Ever to Get Crunchy Blooming Onions Right in Your Own Kitchen

Even if you don’t particularly like onions, you probably love blooming onions just as much as the next guy. Crispy, crunchy, salty, delicious blooming onions are a restaurant favorite that are always a must any time I go to a steakhouse with my family. But sometimes I don’t want to go out just to get a fix of this delicious appetizer. Making a blooming onion, though? That looks complicated. This bite-sized version by Macheesmo is much easier to make and to eat, and you still get all the flavor of the restaurant favorite. That’s a win in my book, and I have been adding this recipe to my regular entertainment options since I saw it.

The recipe also includes a dipping sauce that I swear is an exact copy cat to my local steakhouse’s dip for blooming onions. It’s tangy and creamy, perfect for offsetting the bite of onions. This recipe is great for a game night or entertaining friends, but who says you couldn’t also whip it up for yourself? Trust me, once you get a taste, you’ll want to keep it in your regular recipe rotation. Big thanks to the chef at Macheesmo for sharing such a delicious and easy way to get that restaurant flavor without the fuss.

Quick tip: You do need to stick to cipollini onions for this one because they are the right size and flavor. Pearl onions are too small and will turn into mush!
