You’ll Want a Second Helping of This Recipe
I can remember when I was a little girl and I would visit my grandmother on weekends. She was always in the kitchen whipping up old family recipes. The first recipe she ever taught me when I was 10 was her infamous meatoaf. I can still taste the tanginess and heartiness as I think back on those memories.
One night about a month ago, my sister-in-law made this meatloaf and I thought she had used my grandmother’s recipe word for word. My favorite part was the almost crispy edges from where the fat sizzled on the pan. It gives it a nice browning that was just like growing up. It’s funny how some meals can just transport you back in time.
It’s been years since I made my grandmother’s recipe, so I decided to try this one out for my kids to see if they enjoyed it. Normally meatloaf is great for leftovers, but this time we ate the whole pan that first night for dinner! If you’re looking for an easy weekend fix, this is a great option with minimal clean up.

Quick tip: If you don’t have oatmeal, you can use crushed crackers or pieces of bread instead.
