And They’re Off! Headed Down the Stretch for Some Home Cookin’

Grab your big ol’ fancy hat, honey! Join me for a Mint Julep in the Grandstand at Churchill Downs on Derby Day! What? You can’t make it? Well, hush my mouth, sugar, that’s okay. Here’s the recipe for what we’ll all be eating that day:  Kentucky Hot Brown – in casserole form, so it will  be easy for y’all to fix some right on up!

Now listen, this couldn’t be any easier, less’n I made it for y’all. Have y’all got one of them big ol’ baking dishes, y’all know what I’m talking ‘bout? Thass right, the pie-wrecks! Well, slick that up with some grease. I KNOW the recipe doesn’t call it out, but trus’ me, y’all be glad I tol’ you so, come washin’-up time.

Okay, okay – now get y’all some of those curly noodles and dump them on in that dish. Naw, don’t burl ‘em fust! Toss your turkey in with it, now a can of maters, yep, juice and all! There’s some other stuff, too – well, read the recipe, sugar. How you ‘spec me to ‘member it all, at my age? Now bake it nigh on to half an hour, ‘fore y’all put some of that there monsterella cheese on top. Some of that parmesian cheese, too. Yass, honey, y’all gonna love it! Gotta go now, them there hosses fixin’ to run!

Quick Tip:  This tastes nearly as good with chicken as it does with turkey. So if you don’t have any turkey on-hand, chicken is a fine substitute.
