This Is The Perfect Dish To Bring To Pot Lucks, Family Dinners and Everything In Between
Recipes like these transport me right back to my childhood. My family had a tradition every summer to host a family reunion in a state park near our house. It was the most beautiful place for us to gather—complete with winding hiking trails, large shade trees perfect for picnics, and a crystal clear lake perfect for taking a quick swim.
Every family was in charge of a particular part of the meal. There was my aunt and uncle who, along with their kids, supplied a few main dishes. My grandma and grandpa supplied all the sides. Another uncle was in charge of the drinks. And my family was always in charge of the desserts.
I remember very clearly that the week leading up to each reunion would inevitably find my mother up to her elbows in butter and flour as she whipped up cakes and cookies and everything in between to feed the crowd. And each year she’d let me try me hand at making something, too. I nearly always turned to a boxed mix to make cupcakes but one year I decided to switch it up a bit.
It was my first foray into banana pudding and I’ve loved it ever since—especially when it’s as easy as this!

Quick tip: Make sure you use instant banana and French vanilla pudding—cook and serve won’ t work with this recipe.
