Your Childhood Favorite Is Getting a Homemade Makeover
I have a sneaking suspicion that my family thinks I’m cheap. Ever since I’ve been an adult deciding gifts to give various family members on my own I’ve always steered towards handmade gifts. I love to knit (I’ve lost count of how many scarves I’ve made), am fairly crafty (chances are if you have a fall birthday you’ll be getting an ornament for your Christmas tree), but my favorite gift of all?
Baked goods!
I love giving and receiving sweet treats—there’s just something so satisfying about watching a face light up at the first bite of a cookie. Or having someone ask you to share a recipe with them after trying something for the first time.
Can I help that baked goods are usually also cost effective gifts? No (but it sure doesn’t hurt!).
But more often recently I think I’ve heard grumblings from my family about how they wish I would just give normal gifts already. My nephew even made sure to specifically ask me for a gift card—the worst of the normal gifts!
But let me tell you there were certainly no complaints when I gifted these to my grandma for her birthday and my family helped her devour the tray.

Quick tip: To ensure the cookies don’t spread at all bake them on parchment paper or a silicon baking mat.
