A Fast Yeast Bread? No, It’s Not Too Good to Be True
There is nothing more intimidating to me as a cook than homemade bread. I bought a bread machine, years ago, and never looked back. However, there’s no denying that making homemade bread, even in a machine, takes quite a while. If you can’t get a loaf started midday, you won’t be having fresh homemade bread for dinner. That is, until right now! This No-Knead Skillet Bread is, in fact, a yeast bread that rises into a light and fluffy loaf. But it doesn’t require any work from you, and you only need a little over two hours. Pick the kids up from school and then get this bread started – by the time dinner is ready, you’ll have a homemade delight to go with it!
This recipe comes from Baker Bettie, one of my favorite places for no-nonsense baked goods that are easy enough for anyone and still delicious. The addition of herbs in this bread is one of my favorite ways to eat it, but you can customize! Try sprinkling cheese over the top, or going without for a simple accompaniment to any meal. Big thanks to Baker Bettie for such an easy go-to recipe that every home chef should know.

Quick tip: As a living organism, yeast has a shelf life. Be sure to check the expiration date, or you won’t see any rise.
