My Grandma Made The Best After-School Dessert When I Was Little

One of my favorite childhood memories was from when I was the ages 5-10 years old. During those years, I’d go to my grandma’s house every afternoon, after school.

On Fridays, my grandma and I would make her Famous Old-Time Cinnamon Rolls. The rich cinnamon smell would fill the entire house, and even grandpa would always have to stop in the kitchen to get a taste of the rolls, fresh out of the oven!

Since I was a kid, I couldn’t make the recipe all by myself, but I always got to mix the frosting. Even though I’m older now, making the frosting is still my favorite part. It only involves a few ingredients, and it’s really easy to mix them together in a bowl. Although, I think what made the frosting my favorite part was getting to lick the bowl after topping off each cinnamon roll!

Thankfully, my grandma was kind enough to share her recipe for the Famous Old-Time Cinnamon Rolls with me, and I’m passing on the tradition to my kids now. Every Friday, I get all the ingredients ready on the table. When the kids hop off the school bus, they race into the kitchen, throw on their aprons, and get ready to make the dough with me.

Making the cinnamon rolls together is a great way to end a long and exhausting week, and it will keep the memory of my grandma alive and well.

Quick Tip: Use a whisk to make the frosting for a lump-free mixture.
