This’ll Take Care Of All Your Chocolate Cravings In Just One Bite!
I have a very dear friend who for as long as I can remember has never had a birthday cake. Instead, she always chooses a different kind of dessert to ring in another year depending on her mood or what she’s been craving at that time. Whenever I’d ask her why she tended to buck this typical birthday tradition she would just shrug and say, “I’m not really a cake person.”
Turns out that all the cakes she’d had as a kid had just never seemed that good to her, and so once she was old enough to decide for herself what she wanted she always chose to forego cake and have something else. So to say I was shocked when she asked me to make her and actual cake for her birthday last year would be an understatement.
And she let me pick out whatever recipe I wanted—no pressure at all there—so I had nothing to go off of besides knowing she was an absolute chocaholic. With that in mind I began my search, scouring through recipes until I was sure I had found one even miss “I’m not a cake person” couldn’t resist.
And I succeeded.

Quick tip: You can use regular cocoa in the frosting if that’s what you have—it will just be a slightly less intense chocolate taste.
