This Nails The Taste, But Is Easier To Make
WARNING! This casserole may easily become addictive for you! Chrisy has come up with a real winning idea here, by taking a very popular sandwich, the meatball sub, and turning it into a casserole. The same great combination of hearty meatballs with gooey, melting cheese and lots of savory sauce is there, but it is a lot easier to make and a lot less messy to eat. The fact that you can make it all in one pan makes for much easier clean-up, too.
Anybody who has ever dipped their garlic bread in marinara sauce is going to love this casserole. It’s faster than you would ever dream possible, too, because your meatballs require absolutely NO preparation. You don’t even have to thaw them!
This is some serious Italian comfort food, have no doubt. It is layered, like a lasagna, but there isn’t a noodle in sight. It could be one of the few main dish casseroles that doesn’t contain any form of pasta, in fact. What you will find is an entire layer of garlic bread forming the base that the meatballs rest upon. As this casserole bakes, some of the sauce gets absorbed by that garlic bread making it soft, but not soggy, if you use a blended sauce, as opposed to a chunky one.

Quick Tip: Want to add even more delicious flavor to this zesty casserole? Look for meatballs that are already seasoned. You will find many differently-seasoned varieties in your local market’s freezer section.
