Wow Your Guests with a Party Slider Twist on a Classic Monte Cristo
I will never pass up a chance to try out some fancy cheese. There’s something about the words gruyere and muenster that draws me to a recipe faster than a moth to a flame. So when this recipe came up in my Pinterest feed, I had to give it a try. I admit, when I saw that the cook had sprinkled powdered sugar on what amounts to a ham, turkey, and cheese sandwich, I wasn’t convinced. But the classic flavor of a Monte Cristo sandwich is hard to beat, and I couldn’t pass up the fancy cheese!
Instead of frying this sandwich as usual, it is baked. The usual French toast flavor is replaced by the sweetness of the Hawaiian roll and the powdered sugar. What you get is a delicious little appetizer that I personally also love for a fancy lunch. My kids loved it too, but these sandwiches are elegant enough to serve at a holiday party in my opinion! I’ll be adding them to my menu as Christmas gets closer. Big thanks go to the mastermind at South Your Mouth for this smart take on a yuumy party favorite that is so much easier and way less messy to cook.

Quick tip: Be sure the tented foil doesn’t touch the tops of the rolls, or the upper bun will burn.
