A Secret Sauce Pulls Together This To-Die-For Stew!
Okay, everyone! The cold weather is setting in! I don’t know if you’ve been watching the weather around the country, but fall has come and gone in the blink of an eye. I’ve seen inches of snow in a few states already.
In fact, here in Chicago we’ve had a couple days of heavy snowfall already. That’s what we get for living so close to the lake! Ugh! I’m personally not a big fan of the snow, but I am a big fan of all the delicious cooking I get to do during cold weather.
When the frost hits the windows, I always whip out my Winter Beef Stew. Here’s my favorite reason: all the ingredients go in a slow cooker! Even if I want a snow day to keep me from having to go to work, all I have to do is set this all up in the crock pot before I head out for the day. When I come home, my house smells absolutely heavenly.
It’s the perfect way to end a long, chilly day in the office. What I like to do is fill Ziploc bags with all the ingredients, freeze them, and then throw them in the slow cooker in one go.

Quick Tip: Make sure to use crushed tomatoes (not diced or whole) for the best broth consistency.
